Katy J Pearson has released a re-recorded version of ‘Willow’s Song’ featuring London folk collective Broadside Hacks. Originally featured on her acclaimed album, Sound Of The Morning, released on Heavenly Recordings in July 2022, this updated cover of Paul Giovanni’s song from the soundtrack to the 1973 cult film The Wicker Man produced by Balazs Altsach features on a forthcoming EP which includes new versions of some of the film’s most memorable music.
Having been asked to re-imagine the soundtrack for Studiocanal’s box set re-issue of the cult Brit-horror film to mark its 50th anniversary, the 9-track EP from Katy J Pearson and friends (Broadside Hacks, Drug Store Romeos, Sarah Meth, Orbury Common, Evie Hilyer-Zietler, Bert Ussher, H.Hawkline plus special guests as well as remixes by Richard Norris and Stone Club) celebrates the film’s iconic soundtrack and will be released on CD on September 25th as part of the 4-disc The Wicker Man 50th Anniversary Collector’s Edition and digitally later in the year on Heavenly.
Full details and tracklisting of the EP will be announced shortly.
I've had this album on repeat for two days! As with Flock, every song hits the mark with deceptive simplicity--a great bass line and chord progression filled out with wonderfully varied guitar textures, a solid drum kit, synths and filter sweeps, and of course, Jane's lovely voice. Stephen Bourque
Well, does it live up to the hype? It's okay, not as good as 'Loops' or the 'Fenella' stuff; i doubt i'll be listening to it in full very often.
Her mojo is waneing in my 'umble opinion. vykr
